Introduction
Welcome to domain2Social ("we," "our," or "us"). We are committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you visit our website.
Information We Collect
We may collect information about you in a variety of ways. The information we may collect on the Site includes:
- Search Data: We do not store, log, or collect the search terms (brand names or handles) you enter. Your search queries are processed in real-time to check availability and are immediately discarded.
- Usage Data: We may automatically collect anonymous information about your access to and use of the Site, such as your IP address, browser type, operating system, access times, and the pages you have viewed directly before and after accessing the Site. This data is used for analytics purposes and does not contain personal information.
Use of Your Information
Having accurate information permits us to provide you with a smooth, efficient, and customized experience. Specifically, we may use information collected about you via the Site to:
- Provide and manage our services.
- Monitor and analyze usage and trends to improve your experience with the Site.
- Compile anonymous statistical data and analysis for use internally.
Advertising and Cookies
We may use third-party advertising companies to serve ads when you visit the Site. These companies may use information about your visits to this and other websites that are contained in web cookies in order to provide advertisements about goods and services of interest to you.
Our site uses cookies to enhance your experience. A cookie is a small file which asks permission to be placed on your computer's hard drive. You can choose to accept or decline cookies. Most web browsers automatically accept cookies, but you can usually modify your browser setting to decline cookies if you prefer.
Third-Party Websites
The Site may contain links to third-party websites and applications of interest, including advertisements and external services, that are not affiliated with us. Once you have used these links to leave the Site, any information you provide to these third parties is not covered by this Privacy Policy, and we cannot guarantee the safety and privacy of your information.
Browser Extension
Our Chrome browser extension ("the Extension") checks whether a brand name is available across social platforms and domain extensions. We designed it to be privacy-respecting:
- Optional sign-in, no tracking. The Extension works without any account (a few checks per day). You may optionally sign in with Google to raise your daily limit and unlock AI ideas and domain watch. There are no analytics or advertising trackers in the Extension.
- What sign-in collects. If — and only if — you choose to sign in, we receive your Google account identifier, email address, name and profile photo. These are used solely to identify your account so we can enforce your per-user daily limits; the account id and daily counters are stored in our Firebase backend for your account only. This data is never sold, shared for advertising, or used to track you, and you can stop sharing it at any time by signing out.
- Your searches are not stored by us. The name you type is used only to perform availability checks in real time and is then discarded. We do not log or retain it on our servers.
- Where the name is sent. To check availability, the name is sent directly from your browser to the relevant public services: the social platforms you are checking (Instagram, X, TikTok, Facebook, YouTube, GitHub), domain registry lookup services (RDAP) and Google Public DNS, and — only if you click "Suggest names" — our AI name-suggestion endpoint at domain2social.com. These requests are made from your own browser and IP. The name is processed in real time and is never stored, logged, or retained on our servers, and it is never used for advertising or tracking.
- Why the AI endpoint receives the name. When you ask for AI name ideas, the name is sent to our endpoint so it can generate brandable alternatives; every suggested
.comis then verified as genuinely available before it is shown to you, so the AI never proposes a name that is already taken. - How social checks work. For platforms that do not offer an availability API, the Extension briefly opens the profile page in a background tab, reads whether the page indicates the profile exists, and immediately closes the tab. No page content is stored or transmitted to us.
- Permissions. tabs and scripting are used solely to open and read those public profile pages during a check; identity is used only for the optional Google sign-in described above; host permissions are limited to the specific platforms and lookup services listed above plus the Firebase hosts used for that sign-in and daily-limit check; storage holds only your local settings and feature state on your own device (your scan preferences — which platforms and domain extensions to check — the signed-out daily counter, and your domain watchlist); alarms and notifications are used only to re-check a domain you chose to watch and alert you when it becomes available; sidePanel provides the optional side-panel view.
- Affiliate links. Domain registration links may direct you to a registrar (e.g. Namecheap) through an affiliate link. We may earn a commission if you register a domain. This does not change the price you pay.
